Dear COMMA community,
We are deeply saddened to report that Tony Hunter, Professor of Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Computer Science at University College London, tragically died in a hiking accident earlier this week. Tony is remembered as a leading researcher in many areas of knowledge representation and reasoning. Through his contributions to computational models of argumentation, inconsistency handling, and reasoning in general, he influenced both the theory and practice of artificial intelligence. Colleagues from the field appreciated not only his academic distinction but also his kindness, patience, and quiet encouragement. His legacy endures in the many students he guided, the colleagues he inspired, and the research fields to which he gave lasting direction. He will be deeply missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Tony’s wife, family, and loved ones. Our thoughts are with them, and with all who were fortunate enough to know him, at this difficult time.
